Knights played well in London

The KDSS girls hockey team participate in the Lady Flames High School tournament in London the past 2 days. The Knights won first place in their pool on the strength of 2 wins and a tie during pool play. The first competition for the ladies was against St. Thomas Aquinas of Brampton. The ladies opened the tournament with gusto as they defeated the team from Brampton by a score of 8-0. Goal scorers were Hailey Allen with 2, with singles from Sara Gossell, Courtney Surridge, Hannah Davdison , Mikhayla Bowes, Samantha Stewart-Ault and Morgan Padfield. Assists went to Hannah Davidson, Hailey Allen and Sara Gossell with 3 each, Jessica Satosek with 2 and singles from Mikhayka Bowes, Carly Smith and Courtney Surridge. Natalie Melick took the win in net.

The second game for the Knights was against St. Mary’s of Kitchener. Hannah Davidson scored twice to make it a 2-0 game for KDSS. Assists went to Carly Smith with two, Sara Gossell and Hailey Allen with one each. Morgan Baker went the distance in net for this one.

The Girls Hockey Team
The final game of pool play pitted the Knights against Fogarty of Orillia. The Fogarty goalie made some excellent saves to keep the Knights off the scoreboard as did Morgan Baker at the other end. This contest ended up in a tie, but that was all KDSS needed to finish first in its pool.

The Knights then faced off against the strong St. Thomas Aquinas team of London, not the same team they met in pool play.

The Knights played an excellent game, but ended up on the short end of a 4-3 score. Hannah Davidson again led the scoring for the Knights with two goals while Sara Gossell added a single. Assists went to Gossell and Hailey Allen with two each, and Davidson and Laura Mangotich with one each. Natalie Melick played an excellent game between the pipes.

Congratulations ladies, on an excellent tournament.

The team travels to Owen Sound next Thursday for the final game before the Christmas break.
