November 30th - A Day of Double Awareness
November 30th 2011 was a day to be aware of our world at KDSS. KDSS held to awarness campaigns on Wednesday. First was the Vow of Silence. For 24 hours, about 30 students took the "Vow of Silence" in support of children's rights and the Free The Children organization. Taking the Vow represents that children in the world who don`t have a voice against poverty and exploitation. The students got pledges to take the vow and all the funds go towards KDSS Free the Children`s "Alternative Income" Campaign.

KDSS's Movember Spirit Day also took place on the 30th. During the month of "Movember"(Novmeber) men, young & old grow out their facial hair to raise awareness against Prostate Cancer and mens health. On November 30th KDSS held a spirit day where Student Council sold mustaches. All the proceeds went to Prostate Cancer Research. Many students & staff, male & female participated in this event. Left is a photo of KDSS Student, Mickey Collins who took part in both awareness campaigns. (Photo taken by Liz Dadson of the Kincardine Times).
