The Knights have done it! They won OFSAA!
KDSS can proudly say they have the best high school hockey team in Ontario!
The boys played hockey like it was their day job. Since the beginning of the season the Knights lost only a handful of games, which led to winning BAA, CWOSSA & OFSAA!
The final game of OFSAA was a nerve rattling one. The first goal was scored by Riley Cook (Grade 10), assisted Ben Scheel (Grade 10) and Keegan McLelland (Grade 10). A few minutes later F.J. Brennan High school tied the score 1-1. The Knights would not let the Cardinals get ahead. With in 30 seconds of tying the score the Cardinals fell behind due to the goal by Garrett McFadden (Grade 9), assisted by Ryker Killins. Period 1 ended with a score of 2-1 for the Knights.
Period two started off with both teams working hard to get ahead. Then half way through the period Mitch Dickson (Grade 12) got another goal for the boys! The assist goes to Ryker Killins. The Cardinals were able to get another goal in and get one point behind the Knights (3-2). The Knights were not going to get as far as they were and lose. Gerrit Satosek (Grade 12), assisted by Jacob Siekierski (5th Year) were able to get one more goal in putting the score to 4-2!
Period 3 was very suspenseful with the Cardinals trying to catch up and the Knights trying to stay ahead. Easton Battler (5th Year) would not let any goal past him. No goals were scored in the 3rd period!
The buzzer went off and to the Knights sounded like the song of Angels. The Knights skated as fast as the could off the bench onto the ice for a big celebration hug! No Boys of Hockey from KDSS has ever made it to OFSAA let alone win!
Congratulations Boys! You really deserve it!
A special thank you goes out to the coaches; Peter Wolfe (Teacher), Doug Kennedy (Community) and Josh Howald (Kennedy). Thanks to your help the boys were able to achieve the impossible!
