Robotics Team back from their first Competition of the year.

The Kinetic Knights traveled to the Greater Toronto East Regional last weekend (March 9-10). The first day of qualification matches started off with our team emerging victorious from four out the seven matches we played that day. The next day followed with a victorious streak of all three matches, finishing our qualifying matches for the tournament.


Team 781 were fifth seated team at the beginning of alliance selections. As the captain of our alliance, the Kinetic Knights invited FIRST Teams 907 (Cybernetics), and 1404 (Shocks) to join them in the elimination round. The Quarter Finals were played against FIRST Teams 1241 (Theory 6), 2809 (K-Botics), and 2626 (Evolution). The first Quarter Final match was played closely and vigorously, and ended with a score of 38-34 in our favor. The next Quarter Final match was a show of triumph for the alliance as they scored 44-18 and secured a spot in the Semi Finals.


The next stage of the elimination round was a hard and well played one by both sides. The opposite alliance, consisting of FIRST Teams 1114 (Simbotics), 2056 (OP Robotics), and 1219 (Iron Eagles), was strong and difficult to defeat. With a good show of defense by our alliance, though, The Kinetic Knights won the first Semi Final match with a score of 74-58. However, Team 781 did not stay on the top for long. The next Semi Final match was well played by the opposing alliance as they came out with a score of 80-45. Their victory meant the need for a third Semi Final - a tiebreaker. After a long day of hard work and triumph, our alliance was knocked out of the competition by the opposing alliance.


This alliance would go on to earn a well deserved Regional win. Congratulations to the 2012 GTR East Regional Winners:
